Nairobi National Park Night Game Drive: a private evening drive for up to six guests, from your door in Nairobi and back.
Most people only see Nairobi National Park by day. Stay on after sunset and the park changes. Hyenas begin calling across the open plains, lions that slept through the afternoon start to move and the lights of the city come on along the horizon while you sit in the dark watching wildlife.
This private night game drive is built for friends, work teams, solo travellers and visitors with one free evening in the city. We collect you from your hotel or home and drive you to Main Gate on Langata Road. There an armed Kenya Wildlife Service ranger joins your vehicle for the whole drive. Your driver guide then works the plains with a spotlight, reading tracks, calls and eye shine as the light fades.
The vehicle is yours alone, so your group sets the pace and the stops. One price per person covers the vehicle, your guide, the ranger, every park and night drive fee and your transfers. You are back at your door by about 10:45 PM.

More information about this package
Your own vehicle: A private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop up roof, shared with nobody outside your group. Up to six guests ride in one vehicle. Larger groups travel in a second vehicle with its own guide and ranger.
Door to door: We pick you up from your hotel or home anywhere in Nairobi and drop you back after the drive. Pickups outside the city are quoted separately.
A KWS ranger on board: An armed Kenya Wildlife Service ranger rides with your vehicle for the whole night drive. Your driver guide and the ranger brief you on safety at the gate before you set off.
From daylight into darkness: You enter the park in the late afternoon and stay as it turns to night. That way you see the park in daylight and again under the spotlight on one trip.
Who comes out after dark: Spotted hyenas, lions, jackals, bush babies, porcupines and African wildcats are all active at night. Wildlife moves freely, so sightings change from night to night and none can be promised.
A park beside a capital city: Nairobi National Park sits right against the city, so out on the open plains you watch wildlife with the lights of Nairobi on the horizon.
Adults only: This drive is for guests aged 18 and over. Families with children can book a daytime game drive in the park instead.

Package Itinerary
The package itinerary is as follows

Afternoon: Across Town to Main Gate Your driver guide collects you between 3:30 PM and 4:15 PM, depending on where you are staying. Your planner confirms the exact time the day before. The drive takes you across the city to Main Gate on Langata Road. At the gate you check in with KWS, meet your ranger and get a short safety briefing.
Evening: Last Light on the Plains You enter the park while it is still light. Look for giraffes, zebras and buffalo out on the grass as the afternoon cools and the city skyline sharpens behind them. As the sun goes down, the roof stays open and the spotlight comes on.
Night: Under the Spotlight Your guide sweeps the plains and the edges of the thickets with the spotlight, stopping for eye shine, tracks and calls. Hyenas, lions and the smaller night animals are most likely now, though no sighting is certain. After a final loop you leave through Main Gate and your driver takes you home.
